The Spendor ST is a distinctive high performance loudspeaker for discerning individuals. Beautifully styled with a gently curved shimmering black piano lacquer cabinet, the sophisticated modern look and individual character of each ST is enhanced by a luxurious fascia inlay.

For the ST we developed a new Spendor 18cm Kevlar composite cone bass driver and a new 18cm polymer cone bass-mid driver. Combined with a wide surround 29mm tweeter and meticulously refined crossover network, the result is outstanding sound quality and superb technical performance.

Down to the last detail the ST is engineered without compromise. From the machined steel stabiliser disks to the proven Spendor linear-flow reflex system, the sound is seamless, controlled and consistent.

Hi-Fi World magazine

April 2010

"It's their overarching clarity of tone - purity, if you like - that sets them apart from the rest at this price..."
"I'd say the Spendor ST is best described as a 'moving coil electrostatic'. It does much of what the latter does (majoring on delicacy, detail and seamless integration), but without the need for a living room the size of a footballer's indoor swimming pool."

"Our measured response was well maintained above and below thw drive units, the ST showing better behaviour here than most loudspeakers. The ST's frequency balance is smoother than most and the loudspeaker should be obviously more accurate than most..."
"The ST measures very well in all respects and has obviously been designed for accuracy..."

"...the Spendor ST's are beautifully presented, the quality of the finish is superlative, the feel of the speaker is faultless..."

"Everything about the performance of the ST reassures you how 'well honed' it is; here's a speaker with virtually no rough edges."

"I was struck by their purity; there's no sense of hearing the drive units quacking in the midband, booming in the bass, or clanging in the treble. They all cross over so well, and don't hang on to the opening transient attack of the note; it is allowed to fall off into the 'blackness of the mix' almost immediately. Unlike most loudspeakers running conventional cones, there's no sense of them showing capacitor-like behaviour, where the energy is absorbed, stored, and then slowly released. Instead the Spendors have an openess and a delicacy that's more redolent of an electrostatic here - but without their problems!"

"Again there was real insight here into the recording, showing delicacy and an immaculately finely etched presentation. Clinical would be the wrong word to use here, but it is certainly meticulous."

"So the ST's are forensic in their reporting of the inner goings on of a recording, but do they suffer from 'analysis paralysis'? The answer is NO; unlike some speakers that get so wrapped up in the process of telleing you what's going on in the recording that they lose the listeners attention, the Spendors are genuinely satisfying to listen to."

"Best of all is the way the bass doesn't jump out at you and interfere with the rest of the mix, nor does it underwhelm. Once again, seamlessness is the order of the day."

Audio Video magazine (South Africa)

February 2009
"The Spendor ST's sounded good right out of the box, displaying an ability to project a rich tonal range, and showing off a penchant for agility and momentum. More importantly was a talent for transparency that made their physical presence in the room less daunting, and allowed them to 'disappear' as point sources from the soundstage."

"...the ST's deliver their low-frequency wares with smooth authority, with ample control ensuring that you only hear what is there, and not what resonates as a result. It's big and powerful bass, but never overpowering."

"While the Spendors are big, bold and majestic, they are able to extract and present those fine strands of detail so often glossed over by lesser designs. ...sonic sovereigns of the highest order."
